Qatar Charity (QC) has launched the ‘Sudan Appeal’ campaign to extend a helping hand for the displaced and those affected by war in Sudan, amid the worst displacement crisis in the world.

In a statement on Monday, QC stated that the campaign intends to provide food baskets, clean drinking water, sanitation facilities, healthcare services, and shelter tents and is expected to benefit over one million persons.

The campaign aims to provide food baskets to 550,000 people, containing essential food items to meet the needs of affected families, thereby addressing hunger among displaced children and families.

Besides, the campaign provides safe drinking water to save the lives of 400,000 children and affected families, amid the severe shortages of drinking water in many Sudanese regions. Mobile sanitation units will be provided for 200,000 people in affected areas to prevent disease outbreaks, ensuring easy access for displaced persons, and taking into consideration those with special needs and elderly individuals.

Additionally, QC is working to provide healthcare and treatment for 200,000 patients, in addition to improving healthcare services in different regions. Also, the campaign plans to provide shelter tents for 250,000 affected individuals and restore a sense of security and stability for displaced families.

QC has helped Sudan in various areas, including comprehensive relief, food supply, healthcare, water, and sanitation. Approximately 400,000 people have benefited from these projects across different regions. It invited all benefactors to donate to the campaign, either through QC’s website, mobile number, or QC’s application.

The number of internally displaced persons and refugees in Sudan reached 11 million people, while 2 million people had to seek refuge in neighbouring countries. It is expected that 17 million people will face the risk of famine by the end of 2024, while severe malnutrition threatens 4.6 million children due to the famine affecting many regions of Sudan.
