HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani and HE Prime Minister of the friendly Republic of India Narendra Modi held an official session of talks at the Hyderabad House in New Delhi on Tuesday.

At the outset of the session, HE Indian Prime Minister welcomed HH the Amir and the accompanying delegation, expressing gratitude for the visit and wishing HH a pleasant stay in India. HE also looked forward to this state visit contributing to further strengthening the bilateral relations and expanding them towards broader horizons in all areas of joint strategic bilateral cooperation.

For his part, His Highness the Amir expressed thanks to HE the Prime Minister, the Government of India, and its friendly people for the warm welcome and generous hospitality. HH emphasized the depth of historical relations between the two countries and reiterated that India is one of the State of Qatar’s most important economic partners. His Highness also expressed happiness at visiting India for the second time to continue consultations and support and enhance relations, as well as increase trade exchanges and achieve mutual interests.

Bilateral relations and ways to enhance and expand them, particularly in the areas of economy, investment, and energy, in addition to several regional and international issues of mutual interest were discussed during the session.

HH the Amir and HE Indian Prime Minister witnessed the exchange of two agreements between the governments of the two countries.

They witnessed the exchange of an agreement on establishing a bilateral strategic partnership and an agreement aimed at avoiding double taxation and preventing fiscal evasion concerning income taxes.

The session and the exchange ceremony were attended by HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani, HE Chief of the Amiri Diwan Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Khulaifi, HE Minister of State for Energy Affairs Saad bin Sherida Al Kaabi, HE Minister of Labour Dr. Ali bin Saeed Al Marri, HE Minister of Communications and Information Technology Mohammed bin Ali Al Mannai, HE Minister of Commerce and Industry Sheikh Faisal bin Thani Al-Thani, and a number of Their Excellencies members of the official delegation accompanying HH the Amir On the Indian side, the session was attended by HE External Affairs Minister Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, HE Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal, HE Minister of Labour and Employment and Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, HE Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri, and several senior Indian officials.

On this occasion, HE Prime Minister of the friendly Republic of India hosted a luncheon banquet in honor of HH the Amir and the accompanying delegation.
